Step 1: Access the Messaging Section

  • From the left sidebar, click on the Message tab. This opens the messaging interface where you can view and manage all your direct messages and channels.

Step 2: Viewing and Managing Conversations

  • In the messaging interface, you’ll see two main sections:
    • Direct Messages (DMs): This is where you can send messages directly to individual team members. Select a person from the list on the left to view and respond to their messages.
    • Channels: Here, you can participate in group conversations that are organized by different topics or teams. For example, you might have a channel for the ’Frontend and Backend’ team or specific project discussions.

Step 3: Sending and Formatting Messages

  • In the message window, you can compose your message using the text box at the bottom. Click on the B button to bold your text, I for italics, or the U to underline words for emphasis.
  • You can also create bullet points, numbered lists, or insert images using the icons in the toolbar.

Step 4: Mentioning and Reactions

  • You can mention other users in the chat by typing the ’@’ symbol followed by their name. This will notify them of the message.
  • Additionally, you can react to messages by clicking on the emoji icon and selecting an appropriate reaction.

Step 5: Managing Threads and More

  • If a conversation becomes lengthy or specific to a sub-topic, use the Threads feature to manage that discussion separately within the same message window. This keeps the main conversation focused and organized.
  • You can also save important messages by clicking the Saved Items section. This helps you keep track of essential information and reference it later.

Step 6: Search and Filters

  • If you need to locate a specific message or conversation, use the search bar at the top.
  • You can also filter by mentions or reactions to quickly find relevant discussions.

Step 7: Notifications and Settings

  • Notifications for new messages will appear in real time.
  • You can manage these settings by clicking on the Settings option in the bottom left, ensuring you receive the right amount of notifications for important conversations.
